SHante Sellers- MS,CCC-SLP,  M.ed

The Learning Loft was founded in 2018 by Shante Sellers. Shante was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida and like many other students, she struggled in elementary school. She repeated the first grade due to immaturity, lack of confidence and "learning" that occurred in  environments that were not mentally, and emotionally safe.   It wasn’t until she repeated first grade with a teacher who taught passionately, that the gaps in her foundation were repaired.  Her teacher, Mr. Bee, was passionate about helping students become confident learners as they blossomed into the best versions of themselves. Mr. Bee cultivated a safe space for learning where students were allowed to be vulnerable, make mistakes as they owned their learning.  Repeating first grade gave Shante the fuel she needed to succeed for the rest of her life. From there, she succeeded by graduating at the top of her high-school class and subsequently obtained a bachelors degree in sociology from the University of Florida. She believes had it not been for Mr. Bee, who never allowed  the word can’t" or students to give up, she wouldn’t be where she is today. 

Shante has always shared a love for education by helping to serve students and families in the community. She served 10 years as a 4th grade teacher at the same elementary school where Mr. Bee changed her life as a child.  Not only was it an honor to serve as an educator at her old elementary school even working with Mr. Bee the teacher that changed her life. It was even more gratifying to achieve multiple awards including high qualifications and teacher of the year highlighting her passion and commitment to education.  She participated in many research programs that focused on improving conceptual mathematics education for struggling learners in an effort to unwire traditional structural practices. Her love for education inspired her to obtain a master’s degree in educational leadership.  Thereafter, she discovered a new found love for communication and obtained another masters from Florida State University in communication science and disorders.  She truly believes that communication is the essence to life and learning is impossible without communication.  

The birth of the Learning Loft was a result of Shante's love for education, communication and passion for leadership.  The Learning Loft was founded to provide quality education to students that lack confidence similar to the experience Shante shared as a kid. The Learning Loft, LLC prides itself on bridging the gaps in education and communication by providing a physically and emotionally safe environment for all students to learn.  The Learning Loft would like to  thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your family here.
